So I was in New York last week. For those that don't know me, I work in Central Florida (Ocala) for a company that manages pathology labs. We have our primary medical administrative and clinical offices in New York (Mamaroneck), and a few of us went up last week to work on some stuff. Before I go too far into it, let me just say that, during the days, we got a crapload of stuff accomplished. Yay us!

So on to the nightlife. Wednesday and Thursday night, we went down to Manhattan to have some fun. After much wandering around Wednesday night, we ended up in the Village on Bleecker Street, which is a totally happening spot. We were looking for a good bar with live, original music, and we found it at The Red Lion. The place was great. The beer wasn't unreasonably overpriced, and we paid no cover both nights. (If you get there later, there may be a cover, but it was only like 5 bucks)

So the Red Lion became our defacto hangout in NYC. Awesome place. On Thursday night, we saw The Rachel Platten Band play there. I'd give a link to the website, but the one I was given doesn't work. Anyway, Rachel Platten...I'm in love. The girl has mojo to spare when she's performing, and powerful, soulful pipes to boot. A couple of us were mesmerized. I was hoping to get a CD but I didn't have any cash on me, and with the site being down...well, I'm going to keep trying, and when I find it I'll let you know. Also, the Rachel Platten Band seems to play the NYC circuit pretty regularly, so if you're up there, check them out.

Also, let me plug the Red Lion again...great bar, great prices, great music. 151 Bleecker, on the corner of Bleecker and Thompson. Next step, getting The Bitters booked up there.
