GamesIndustry.biz has a story about a
leaked internal memo that shows EA is looking at changing pay and overtime
situations.
VP of HR Rusty Rueff is responsible for the memo, and has a couple of good
statements in there:
"As much as I don't like what's been said about
our company and our industry, I recognize that at the heart of the matter is a
core truth,"
and
" Net, there are things we just need to fix."
So good. Hopefully this goes a long way toward rectifying the situation
at EA. You know the memo was "leaked" on purpose, it's going to finally
generate some good PR for the publisher. But either way, here's hoping for
a quick fix.
This situation also is a proving ground for the power of blogging. A
lot of bloggers had this days before Slashdot or anyone else, and it made the
rounds very quickly, stirring up a good old fashioned shitstorm. Well done
tech bloggers...this was an important thing that we made sure saw the light of
day.
