*****Disclaimer*****

There is a good chance that some of you reading this will get angry and unsubscribe from my blog,  or not hire me for a job, or blackmail me, or some other nonsense, not because I know anyone will do this for sure, but I’m just playing the numbers here..  I’m sorry if it has to come to that over a philosophical disagreement, I like to think of all of you as my peers in intellectualism, but the following represents a viewpoint that some of you may not like.  And I’m okay with that.  And on my end, even if we disagree, if we are ever in the same place at the same time, like say, VSLive Orlando, I’d still get a beer with you.  This entry may come back to bite me in the ass someday as well, but again, like I have said before, I am who I am and I won’t stifle that here.  But if you don’t feel the same, then I wish you the best, and thanks for stopping by.

You know what?  I usually keep my religious beliefs out of other people’s faces, and off my blog…because as much as I am a “Christian” in that I have faith in Christ, I’m a fairly scientific guy, and I’m also so *not* into shoving my religion down the throats of others, as many Christians are.  I am not holier than thou by any stretch of the imagination, which is great, because I believe that I have my salvation anyway.  My philosophy is, the same salvation is offered to you.  Take it or leave it.  If you leave it, we can still hang out.  I don’t have a problem with you.  So why do you have a problem with me?  Why do you “non-believers” shove your religion down my throat?  There’s a real secularier-than-thou (pardon the conjugation, I didn’t know how to do it…) thing going on and I think it’s retarded.

I read Kaisa's blog regularly, and always seem to find some decent content on there, tech and other, but today ran into the “Just doing my part” post.  Your part?  What part?  Like this is some great war, and you have to go play Rosie Riveter or whatever, doing what you can to support the troops on the front lines?  “Google-bombing” Intelligent Design to point to some site for the NCSE…yeah…that’s like…so counter-revolutionary.  Viva La Resistance.  Way to support the cause.  Sheep.  I swear to God this meme is less relevant than the fucking coffee thing.

You anti-ID, anti-religious people are just as fucking vehement in adherence to your theory and dismissal of others are the people you hate.  Is your preaching and intolerance of ID any less dogmatic than the bible thumpers you are so pissed at?  Doubtful.  Why do you have to be so anti-religion?  Just because you aren’t explicitly for something doesn’t mean you have to be explicitly against it.  You know?  And the creation/evolution thing…this is the most ridiculous argument ever known to mankind, because until you have proof of the origins of the universe beyond potential mathematical results that have varied over the last 30 years, and until the ID people convince God to manifest himself, call a press conference, and show His home movies of the creation, then both sides are operating with a certain amount of FAITH in their UNPROVEN THEORY of how we came about so how about everyone fucking get over yourselves.

You know, what I have wanted to know my whole life is that who the fuck decided that faith in a higher power and intelligence and a scientific mind are mutually exclusive?  Seriously.  Show me this guy.  I will seriously whoop that ass….you know….unless he’s really big.  I have faith.  A lot of people think I’m pretty sharp.  I know some really smart people that go way beyond me in terms of religion.  I do not think that I or they suffer from any sort of mental deficiency because of our faith.

Don’t think I’m leaving the “religious” folks out of this either.  Hell, this blog post is likely to draw more ire from my Christian “brethren” than from the nonreligious folks.   Because I don’t go to church, since every church I have been to is a for-profit meeting of the closed-mind society.  And cuz I say “fuck” a lot.  You know why?  Because it’s a word.  Letters put together to make a sound that only carries the power that humans give it.  A word that if spoken in biblical times would have sounded like gibberish.  And because I’m willing to look beyond the dogma and find a way to work my faith into my life of intellectualism.  Intellectualism is not a sin.  Neither is drinking and dancing.  Also, I found this Christian book publisher thing funny.  I laughed my ass off at this PA comic.  Spaghetti monster is quite humorous too, but I’m too lazy to get the link…oh, what the hell, I dug up the penny arcade thing, so here it is.  Also, I like math.  And physics.  I wanted to be an astrophysicist and explore the moments after the beginning of the universe.  I didn’t have the maths for it so I became a programmer instead.  But whatever.  Why can’t I think that a creator made something out of nothing and then science took over, like a well designed piece of software?  I tend to think of God as the great software engineer in the sky…automated processes, service orientation before it was cool, and the universe as the ultimate distributed app.  Why not?

But honestly….how can you live your life thinking that every answer to be found is in a book which is a compilation of manuscripts written by men and assembled by men, such that the various factions of Christianity are using different compilations?  There’s plenty of knowledge to be found outside of those pages.  And there’s plenty of archaeology going on that helps prove a lot of those pages, because the pages are historical record as told by people who were there (or in the case of the Old Testament, who knew a guy that knew a guy whose dad’s dad’s dad’s great uncle was there).  Just because a dig in egypt proves another verse in the Old Testament doesn’t mean you should bury yourselves deeper in the confines of your book, it means you should challenge the limits and see what else you can find…what wasn’t accounted for by the select few that shaped the bible.

So my question…why do faith and intellect have to be at odds?  Why does this have to be a holy war, fought on the battlegrounds of  blogs and schools and the backalleys of society?  I’ve been seeing a lot of the anti-ID rhetoric lately, and I usually just read it and move on, but this google bombing thing and the whole “doing my part” just really set me off.  I’m calmer now having written this, and the smart thing to do would probably be to hit alt+F4 rather than ctrl+enter when I’m done.  But I won’t.  This is getting posted.  Damn the torpedoes.

Also, in case you’re wondering, I haven’t unsubscribed from kaisa, nor have I unsubscribed from the other blogs i read that don’t agree with my opinion.  And I suspect that if you read this far, you won’t unsubscribe from this one…or you are just really trying to formulate a kickass flame for my comments, in which case, I hope it’s good.  I love a good flame sometimes.  bring it.  i won’t even wear my asbestos underwear.

Good night.  God bless.
