Well, not that anyone really cares, but I just joined up with GameFly to a) get a chance to play a few games that I wanted to, 2) get a little variety in my games without spending a ton of money, and iii) to try it out.

I’ve been with NetFlix since January of 2003, and I’ve loved it.  In those 2 and a half years I’ve gone to Blockbuster 3 total times.  Twice because they were having a pre-viewed DVD sale, and once to return something that the ex had rented for the boy.  I have a nice queue rotation system, 5 movies out at a time, plenty of movies to watch on the weekend, send back monday, next batch in by Thursday.  It’s sweet.

I remember reading about Netflix when they first came out in like…2000 or 2001.  The way they were doing it at first sucked.  I don’t remember all of the details, but it just wasn’t worth it.  And as I recall, there were due dates.  I didn’t sign up and I was totally skeptical.  My buddy turned me on to it in 2003 when I was up in Boston.  He was just as dubious about it in the early days, and he’s about as picky about services as I am, so if he said it was good, I was willing to try it.  I have not been disappointed since.

About GameFly though…right about that time my buddy and I were discussing the concept of a NetFlix for video games.  Seeing the growth of the video business, we figured it would be sweet.  Also that it would be a logistical nightmare and not worth trying.  A year or so goes by and then Gamefly comes out.  Another missed opportunity to do something big.  So now I’m going to give it a try and see how well it works, and cry over my controller-S.
