I’ve been biting my tongue on Katrina because I don’t want to put even more bile out there surrounding something so catastrophic. Some of what’s going on surrounding this tragedy is just making me beyond angry. I’m amazed that the government couldn’t magically fix everything within 4 days of this natural disaster. Must be because they’re stupid, lazy and racist, because they clearly have godlike power over the situation. You people make me sick.
Okay…well I just deleted 5 paragraphs of rant about the people that are using this disaster as a soapbox from which to spew their bullshit political and racial agenda.
What I will say is that it looks like we’re starting to make real progress in getting people out and getting supplies in. So while you spew your filth on your blogs and on TV other people are doing the real work, or making donations, or concentrating on what can be done and doing it. A few links:
Bungie puts together a Fight the Flood shirt. Show your gamer heart and $15 goes to the Red Cross. Mine’s on the way. If you are a gamer, I know you got 20 bucks.
Amazon has a donation page up.
Donate directly to the Red Cross. The Red Cross says the most efficient donation is money. They have the infrastructure to turn it into what’s needed.
The important thing is to realize that a joint effort of NGOs, the government, businesses, and you and I are going to get this thing cleared up. As much as I hate the Yankees in sport, they have given $1M to relief. That’s classy. The Red Sox are passing the collection plate at sold out home games. Deion Sanders is calling his fellow pros to donate $1k each. Everybody is getting together on this. Join in and lend a hand rather than sitting there and squawking into the ether about whatever crap you think is going on. This isn’t about race, there are all kinds of people stuck there. This isn’t about class, the rich sections of New Orleans are just as flooded as the slums. This isn’t religious. If you believe in a God that would do this on purpose to punish the city for Mardi Gras or some gay convention they have, then I feel sorry for you. My God promised not to send floods anymore. How about we put all that crap aside and help out huh?
Oh and to all you people in Florida sitting in line buying all the gas, please stop. I gotta go to work on Monday and I’m on fumes. Grow a brain and realize we aren’t going to run out of gas. Is it too much to ask for my fellow man to be rational?
