Okay…The Simpsons began it’s 17th season tonight.  Let me just say….

barf.

OMG end it already.  Please put this damn show out of its misery.

Let’s get this straight, the only place you will find a bigger Simpsons fan than me (not of the lunatic style) is a few offices down from me, but if you are a real fan, you can surely agree that seasons 11 – 16 could be condensed taking one or two shows from each to make one season of the caliber of seasons 1–8.  The writing is terrible the last few years.  The subtle satire and insider allusions that made intellectuals enjoy the show have all but given way to replayed and overused gags (“yoink” was funny, the collar grab while making gulp sound is not).  The humor of the show has about all the subtlety of a Chevy Chase movie, and only half the laughs.

I’d rather watch Futurama reruns over and over.  Bring that back.  The writing was great!  The resurrection of Family Guy has thus far been incredible (we’ll see the new season opener tonite) and the writing is every bit as edgy as it was back in the day.

But the Simpsons is a dog that needs to be put down already.  C’mere yeller, daddy has a treat fer ya.
