Okay, first let me say that I’m a “methodology” skeptic. I find methodologies to be generally all talk and no walk, and that they’re just nice things to talk about on an academic level. But, I want to seriously understand them for real, not the bastardized versions that people do, but the ones that the hardcore practitioners do, starting with whatever the hell “Agile” encompasses these days. If you *do* Agile and had to bring in a new developer, how would you 101 him? What resources, readings, etc, would give him a foundation that you are comfortable with?
Point of clarification for the benefit of the snarky anon commenter. Yes. I have heard of Google. And via google and other resources I know what Agile is academically, and what it means, and the point of it, and all of that. But that's academics. That's in theory. What I want to know is of people who actually truly practice Agile on the job at real companies, how do they indoctrinate a new team member, maybe one who isn't all that familiar with the methodology. What do they do to get him up to speed. Somehow I doubt they just say "hit up google and try to keep up".
