Since my Sox are handling the thin air so nicely, and I've finally caught up with a month's worth of posts, time to launch the linkblog.

PreFAQ (before you ask)

Is this going to be a regular thing?

I am hoping so.  May not be an every day thing, but certainly it will be regular for the time being.  This is partially to digest what I'm reading into the interesting bits for you, and partially to get me to stick to a blogging schedule.

Am I just going to see the same stuff I see on Jason Haley, Mike Gunderloy, and other's linkblogs?

There may be some, but I will attempt to keep it fresh, and add at least a smattering of commentary.  I have about 250ish feeds subscribed in Google Reader, and add more all the time, so I'm sure I can come up with something that Jason didn't post...but he's way better at this than I.

Will you stop posting other content?

Nay. More importantly, if I can leverage this into a good habit of being more productive posting to the blog, hopefully it should drive me to post more content.

Is this just a ploy to drive traffic?

Of course.  Also those other things I said.

Science/Healthcare

New 'Metamaterial' Brings Scientists Closer Than Ever to a Cloaking Device - this is way cool.

Astrophysicist Replaces Supercomputer with a Cluster of Eight PS3s - the things people do with hardware astonishes me.  I remember reading about a beowulf cluster of PSOnes back in the day.

Cancer Death Rates Dropping Fast - By day I design and develop a lab management system for an anatomic pathology lab.  Early detection is the key to beating cancer, and while I'm not the one on the scope diagnosing specimens, I like to think I have a small part to play enabling efficent pathology workflow.

Doctors Discuss Theories on Aging Brains - Will constantly writing new software, exploring new technologies, and finding new challenges help our ilk in this area?  Yet another argument for blogging/blog reading.

Cancer-Killing Virus Modified to Deliver a One-Two Punch - Does anyone else think this path is the ultimate double-edged sword?

Development

UberUtils - Part 3: Strings - BradVin offers a tidy string utility class.  Some good concepts in here.

Is your IDE looking kind of dull? - Joe Ocampo posts about the hot-or-not of IDEs.  I like to pimp my scheme every so often.  Currently I'm running something that looks like this but with no orange.

How to Scan Computers in Your Network Using the Registry or WMI - Interesting.  Someone at work is wanting to do this right now.

Care about Event Memory Leaks with Delegate.GetInvocationList() - The comments are educational.  The power of blogs lies in the conversations.

Creating Zip archives in .NET (without an external library) - Great post by Jon Galloway.  SharpZip is awesome, but those GPL licenses can be pesky.

Inside MultiTouch: Team, Demo, Lab Tour - Nice video interview of the guys behind MultiTouch.  Pretty cool stuff.

New Sensual Interfaces - and..on the other end of the tangible interface spectrum...the video creeps me right out.

Other

Keep Up with your Unread Bookmarks with Readeroo - My del.icio.us "ReviewNow" tag...meant to be read like...later that day...has items from last year.  So I'm going to try this out.  Only complaint so far:  doesn't hold my credentials well on del.icio.us and I have to keep logging in.

How To Achieve Ultimate Blog Success In One Easy Step - Jeff Atwood has an undeniably successful blog.  He and I started blogging at virtually the exact same time.  I'm more than willing to take his advice.

The 30 Defining Moments in Gaming - So, thing is, if you can remember 25+ of these, you're old school.

Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories - Make a Robotic Snap-O-Lantern - Pretty cool.  I have to see if I can gather the mats to make this happen by Wednesday.

How to Wake Up Feeling Totally Alert - I could use some of this magic.

Reality vs. theory in a high-growth, bootstrapping business - Read it.
